In this lesson we learnt how to block out eyebrows to create an Elizabethan look. We used two different techniques, one using glue and the other using soap. It is important to ask the client beforehand whether or not they are allergic to any products or if they have sensitive skin, if so then it would be best to use the soap technique as it is non scented.
Step by step using glue
- Wash your hands
- Use a prit stick
- Use a spatula to scrape off the glue from the stick
- Apply it to the back of your hand or a pallet
- Apply to the eyebrows in both directions with the growth of the hair
- Apply it as quickly as you can
- Wipe off any excess glue and use a damp cotton bud to go around the eyebrow to remove any from the skin
- Once it has dried apply a loose powder over the top
Step by step using soap
- Wash your hands
- Use a small bowl with warm water in it
- Place the bar of soap into the water
- With a spatula scrape off some soap
- Apply it to the back of your hand or a pallet
- Keep mixing it until it becomes a cream
- Apply the soap to the eyebrow using a spatula
- Flatten the eyebrow with your finger using quite a bit of pressure
- Wait for it to dry before adding a loose powder over the top
Here are some photos to show my practice at blocking out the eyebrows. I used the soap technique for mine as I found this way easier than using the glue.
