Mood Board
Here I have created a mood board so you are able to visualise who and where I would like to be in 5 years time. My dream job is to become a make-up artist and hair designer for celebrities in t.v and film as I really enjoy fashion, hairdressing, cosmetics and I love being creative.
I enjoy thinking up some amazing ideas of different creations in which I can perform on a range of people for different purposes, and this might not just be to do with a style but to do with colours and accessories that can be added to the overall look.
I have used bright, vibrant colours in my mood board as this describes me as a person as I am a very fun, happy and cheerful individual.
A make-up artist which really inspires me is Pat McGrath as I find her very inspiring especially because she had no formal training in fashion or make-up only completing an art foundation course at Northampton College and all her work is just amazing!! I find Pat McGrath's work very expressive, colourful and creative. My favourite work of hers that I love the most is the face designs she created for Galliano fashion shows, mainly because all the models have been transformed to another era which doesn't exist in the real world. I love looking at all Pat McGrath's work as it gives me great ideas which enables me to create a similar look myself.
Film Reviews
My first chosen film is Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) which is a romantic/comedy starring Audrey Hepburn who is a young, fine and independent woman with a great interest in high-fashion. Our interest lies with the way in which Audrey Hepburn is styled, she wears dresses which are very simple, Elegant and iconic, one of my favourite being the first one which was the black dress with the beautiful low-cut back that she wore with her long black gloves, large sunglasses, the big pearl necklace and the dimonte hair piece. What I find very iconic about the film is Audrey Hepburns beehive hair style because hair trends come and go but there are a handful of styles which remain iconic and the beehive is definitely one of them. I believe people will always remember the hair style as being very elegant and classic, almost everyone is familiar with it and it certainly created a style movement.
The crew who worked on the film to create the amazing styles were Nellie Marley who was the hair designer, Wally Westmore who was the make-up artist and Hubert de Givenchy, Edith Head, Pauline Trigere and Joan Joseff who were all the fashion designers.
My Second chosen film is The Great Gatsby (2013) which is a drama/romance film that was mirroring society at the time as the story is happening in the summer of 1922 which is the time period known as the "roaring 20's" which became an explosion of new and exciting fashions.
The Great Gatsby has aroused interest not only in the film world, but in fashion circles too. The girls wore costumes such as flapper dresses designed by Prada and Miu Miu with short, glossy hair usually jazzed up with pretty little headbands. Tiffany and co were in charge of the jewellery which they wore such as art deco ring bracelets, layers of beaded necklaces and beautiful broaches. However my eyes were set mostly on the mens fashion, especially the main character Jay Gatsby who was always dressed in suits with his sleek hair which was smartly swept back, he was always looking very well groomed.
The crew who worked on this film to create the wonderful styles were Lara Jade Birch, Sian Grigg, Luann Claps, Wizzy Molineauz, Mateo Silvi and Brydie Stone who were all the make-up artists and Maurizio Silvi who was the actual make-up designer. Kerry Warn was the hair designer and all costumes were designed by Catherine Martin.
